Real stories from families we've helped
"Our son was almost three and barely saying any words. We were really worried. After a few months of speech therapy here he started putting two and three words together, and now he won't stop talking. The SLP made every session feel like play for him."
"My daughter struggled with her R and S sounds for years and kids at school would tease her about it. After a few months of articulation therapy here her speech is so much clearer and her confidence is back. We honestly wish we'd come sooner."
"Our son's stutter was getting worse and he was starting to avoid talking in class. The SLP team here built a plan around him that didn't feel clinical at all, just supportive. He's so much more comfortable speaking now, even in front of his friends."
"We tried another speech clinic before coming to Catch A Balloon. The difference was night and day. They actually listened to what we were dealing with at home and gave us exercises we could do between sessions. My daughter looks forward to her SLP every week."
"Our daughter's daycare flagged a speech delay and we didn't know where to start. The team here did a thorough assessment, walked us through what was going on, and started therapy right away. A few months later her vocabulary has exploded. So grateful."
"My son has autism and limited verbal communication when we started. The SLP and ABA teams here worked together, that's been huge. He uses way more words now to ask for what he needs, and it has changed our whole household."

Yes. We offer virtual SLP sessions for families across Ontario, all you need is a stable internet connection and a quiet space. Online therapy works especially well for school-age children, articulation work, and families outside the immediate Richmond Hill area. Many of our families do a mix of in-person and online depending on their week.
Yes. Our Richmond Hill clinic at 9040 Leslie St Unit 7 has 18 therapy rooms designed for kids, with free parking on-site. In-person sessions are great for younger children, hands-on play-based work, and families who want a dedicated space outside the home.
Yes, we offer in-home speech therapy sessions for families in Richmond Hill and the surrounding GTA North area (Vaughan, Markham, Thornhill). At-home sessions can be especially helpful for younger children who do better in their familiar environment, or for families with scheduling or mobility constraints. Availability varies, so reach out and we'll let you know what works for your area.
Common signs include: a toddler not talking by age 2, difficulty pronouncing sounds (R, S, L), stuttering or stumbling on words, trouble understanding directions or expressing needs, limited vocabulary compared to peers, or a daycare/teacher flagging a delay. If any of those sound familiar, a free 30-minute consultation with one of our SLPs is the best first step, there's no referral needed and no obligation to continue.
"Speech therapist" and "Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)" are usually used interchangeably, but in Ontario, only a CASLPO-registered SLP is legally qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language disorders. Our SLPs are CASLPO-registered, and our SLP Assistants (SLPAs) work directly under their supervision. That's the credential that matters when you're choosing a clinic.
Every child is different. Some families notice changes in a few weeks (especially with articulation or single-sound work), while broader language or fluency goals can take several months of consistent sessions. Regular weekly visits plus short practice routines at home tend to accelerate progress the most. Your SLP will give you a realistic timeline after the initial assessment.
As soon as you have a concern. Early intervention works, the brain is more flexible at younger ages, and small delays are much easier to address before school. We see children as young as 18 months for late-talker concerns, all the way through age 16 for articulation, fluency, and social-communication work. If you're not sure, the free 30-minute consult will help you decide.
Our SLP assessment is $225 and includes a full evaluation plus a written treatment plan. Ongoing intervention by a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) is $126/hour under SLP supervision. Most private insurance plans cover speech-language pathology, coverage varies by provider, so it's worth checking your plan. Children with an autism diagnosis can use Ontario Autism Program (OAP) funding for our services. Our team can help you navigate the paperwork. The free 30-minute consultation is always at no cost.
